AP考试设立目的
让所有学生有机会接触严格的，大学难度水准的课程体验，以提升学生学术技能，拓展学科知识面和学科认知，最终成为一个终身独立学习者，并以此为荣。此外，学习AP课程还能使学生获得大学学分，提前毕业。
美高AP课程简单来说就是"专属于高中生的大学先修课程"，AP是一系列在为美国高中生开设的大学初阶程度课程。AP课程目前总共有38门学科，科目内容横跨数学、理化、语言、人文历史、艺术等科别，学生若对将来申请本科专业有明确目标，可以依据专业来选择相关的AP课程进行先修。而若对未来大学专业还不确定的同学，也可以拿AP语言和数学这类基础大学课程，将来能转换为大学学分，省下大学学费与上课时间。
