defining college deferrals
什么是college deferrals? deferral通常是指你的申请还没结束，学校在ea/ed的环节觉得你的申请材料不错，但是提前申请的名额有限，因此把你的申请文件推送至一般申请环节重新审阅，这时候将会把12年级的成绩与额外的课外活动一并考量进去。通常将会在三月或四月时取得最后录取通知。
如果你是early decision ﹙ed﹚申请被推送，那你的资格将会被从bindingcommitment限制条约中被解除。
有时候学生会觉得申请文件被退送至一般申请环节会很沮丧，但是申老师要鼓励大家这并不代表完全没有希望了。你的申请文件仍然在审理阶段，下面我提供一些小技巧可以增加一些录取的机率。

如果你仍然对于此大学有相当大的兴趣，这时候你可以提供额外的资料去让学校知道为什么你如此喜欢这所学校与你将会提供什么材料与证明。请记住，这时候所使用的语言需要以尊重的语气说明，同时表现自己的热诚但又不失礼节。
1.详细阅读deferral letter内的说明
请详细的阅读信件上的说明，遵守信上的规定与步骤。请记住，如有些学校要求“ you should not send in any additional information”时，请就不要再寄送任何新文件。
2.寄送补充文书
以下老师提供一个补充文书范本，请记住此时是表现你为何对此学校有兴趣，并针对学术上与课外活动上的补充。请不要重复列举已经缴交的文书内容，请在寄送之前与辅导老师再次确认内容与文法。以下几点可以参考的方向为：
学术活动更新：

to usc undergraduate admissions office:
i recently received the disappointing news that i was denied admissioninto usc. understandably, with over 56,000 applicants, i know there were manyincredible applicants making it a difficult decision to choose whom to admit,which is why i’m grateful to be considered after reviewing the new informationbelow.
i was unable to submit one of my act scores and hope that theattached scores will allow usc to re-evaluate my application. furthermore, iwould like to highlight some additional accomplishments.
since the conversation of college began, my eyes were set on donningusc cardinal and gold. i imagined myself as an active member of a diversestudent population gathering new knowledge in the department of politicalscience at dornsife. additionally, my family is able to pay 100% of my tuitionand fees to usc, allowing usc to fund those not as privileged.. as someone whois committed to helping underserved populations, i know the value of usingresources for the good of others.
during my high school tenure, i was nominated numerous times for theprestigious lion of the month award, founded two clubs, transfer lions club andcaring cupcakes, and served in a leadership role in eight others. outside ofthe classroom, i obtained my girl scouts gold award by renovating an emptyrecreation room into a fully functional library and served over 1,000cumulative hours en route to earning the award for most community service hoursin my national charity league chapter. through these experiences, i have growninto a leader, built meaningful, lifelong relationships, created a welcomingenvironment for incoming first-year and transfer students, advocated for theunderrepresented through the law magnet program, and will continue tocontribute my love of service to the usc community.
