In 2008, I joined the DBU faculty as Assistant Professor of Business in the Graduate School of Business.

Prior to joining DBU, I was employed at Southwest Airlines in the Federal Airport Security Technology Team and Corporate Project Management Office (Strategy and Implementation) as a strategic analyst. Previous experience at Southwest in Human Resources - Technology Department included implementing a skills management system, developing leadership training programs, and selecting various new vendor programs for Technology. As Manager – General Office Solutions & Services, Desktop Applications Team, I restructured the team and implemented new policies and procedures to increase productivity and improve Customer Service. As Paralegal in the General Counsel Department, responsibilities primarily focused on safety and environmental issues regulated by the state and federal government affecting Southwest Airlines. I implemented new technology to convert manual OSHA reports online and improved reporting efficiencies for 64 cities across the system.

My career in training and development began at Mobil Corporation where I worked on the Drilling Training and Development team. I performed needs analysis, identified gaps in areas of training and performance, conducted inventory skills assessments for 1800 drilling engineers and supervisors, and established performance criteria and benchmarks for development of employee skills and competencies. My career progressed to General Manager of Looney & Co., a litigation support firm that provided Court Reporting, Record Retrieval, Reproduction and Imaging Services to law firms. I advanced to Barrister’s Second as Vice President, responsible for outsourcing legal assistants, attorneys, and imaging services to law firms. Further advancement led to position as Director of MIS, responsibilities included telecommunications, IT, and litigation support for a Dallas law firm.

ACADEMIC INFORMATION

I began the academic journey with a BBA in Business Administration and an MBA in Management from Dallas Baptist University. After completing the MBA, I returned to DBU as an adjunct professor. I have served as adjunct professor and guest lecturer at Texas Woman’s University, Dallas Baptist University, University of North Texas, University of Texas at Arlington, and Tarrant County College. In 2001, I received the “Outstanding Adjunct Business Professor of the Year” award. I completed my Ph.D. in Applied Technology Performance Improvement in 2013 and was recently promoted to Associate Professor of Business. I am currently a motivational speaker at various corporations, universities, special events, and formerly a participant in the Southwest Airlines Speaker’s Bureau.

SUBJECTS OF INSTRUCTION

I instruct classes in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Communication and Business Behavior, Performance Management, Staffing Organizations, High Performance Work Teams, Leadership, Coaching, Strategies, Model & Processes, Ethics and Legal Compliance, Negotiations, Conflict Resolution Management, and others.

I have a passion for teaching and sharing knowledge with others. I believe God has gifted me with knowledge, skills and competencies to serve and equip others through learning, growth opportunities and motivation to succeed. I felt led to leave a wonderful organization at Southwest Airlines to be a part of DBU, its mission, values, and service to others. Students enrolled in my classes experience engaging, motivating, real-life work situations. Resources and tools are provided that transfer learning to respective jobs, or qualify them for the challenges in today’s fast-paced competitive workplace environment. My students are important to me and their success is of the upmost priority.
